Purl

Git, issues and pull requests for tangled.

A native iPhone and iPad client for tangled, the code forge built on the AT Protocol. Triage your inbox, read code, review and merge, and watch CI, signed in with the account you already have.

Coming soon to iPhone and iPad

Purl is an independent client and isn’t affiliated with Tangled.

Everything around the code

The whole forge, not just the files.

Issues, CI, people, links and the hand-off to your git tools. Purl covers the work that happens around a repository.

Issues, labels and reactions

Filter by state, search titles and labels, reply in threads, react, and open, close or reopen issues in the repos you maintain.

CI you can watch

Pipelines from any spindle, logs that stream as they run, and retry, cancel or approve from your phone.

Profiles with a pulse

Follow people, see their pinned repos, and a year of commits, pulls and issues at a glance.

Every tangled link opens here

Tap or paste a tangled.org link, an at:// URI or a handle, and Purl goes straight to the right screen.

Clone, copy, hand off

Copy clone URLs, download an archive, or send the repository straight to Working Copy.

Search that knows places

Search repositories, issues, pull requests and people, or type owner/repo or a handle to jump right there.

Look around first

Everything public on tangled is readable without an account. Sign in when you want to comment, star or merge.

All your accounts

Sign in with more than one AT Protocol account and switch between them in a tap.

iPad

Room to breathe on iPad.

A sidebar for your sections and recent repos, the file list beside the diff, changes side by side, and the keyboard shortcuts you’d reach for on a Mac.

  • ⌘1–4Switch sections
  • ⌘KSearch
  • JKNext and previous file
  • ⌘↩Send a comment
  • ⌘NNew issue

Open by design

Your account. Tangled’s network. Nothing in between.

Purl is a client, not a platform. It talks to the same services tangled.org does, and your data stays where it already lives.

  1. Sign in with the account you have

AT Protocol OAuth with your existing account, on tngl.sh, Bluesky or your own PDS. You type your password on your provider’s page, never in the app, and your tokens stay in this device’s Keychain.

  2. Reads come straight from tangled

Repositories, code, issues and profiles load from tangled’s public API at api.tangled.org, the same one tangled.org uses.

  3. Writes go where the data lives

Comments, stars and merges go to your PDS or the repository’s knot, each one authorized by a single-use token your PDS mints for that call alone.

  4. Self-hosted works the same

Repositories on your own knot and pipelines on your own spindle work exactly like tangled’s hosted ones. Nothing is hard-coded.

  5. No tracking, no copy of your data

No analytics, no ads. The one SparrowTek service involved is a stateless sign-in helper that keeps you signed in longer, and it stores nothing.
